It's been quite a day, and it's only 12:45 in the afternoon.
I had yesterday off, so today I got up and went to work without a lot of enthusiasm, only to discover that my boss had given me the day off. She didn't tell me, of course - she has a habit of not doing that - even though we had a whole discussion about my hours on Thursday having been adjusted to synch with the simplification staff's. Not knowing this meant I hadn't done the weekly reports I send in every Sunday, so I had to stay and do them. Meanwhile I called Ray, told him what had happened and asked if it would be okay financially. He gave me a thumbs up so I completed the paperwork, got a few groceries, and headed home. I was trawling the cereal aisle when my cell phone rang. It was Ray, asking if I by any chance had accidentally picked up his glasses and not my own. Nope, sorry, nor did I know where his were. He then toddled off to church while I worshipped the great God Retail.
When I got home, I changed out of my uniform into shorts and a tank top. I wasn't finished when my cell rang again. By the time I got decent enough to grab it, it had stopped and I didn't recognise the caller's number. A new voice mail shortly announced its presence, and I retrieved it. Emily was calling, very distraught, to say that she'd misplaced her cell phone last night and when she found it it had some serious malfunctions. I called her back on her fellow student's phone to say, don't worry, we'll take care of it. When Ray got home he said oh, it does that sometimes (her phone until recently was his, before he got the Idiot Phone *sorry hon*). He called her back to tell her a little trick to do to ameliorate the problem, and if that doesn't work, he'll go down and get her a new one for eighteen bucks.
So all's soon to be well, we know where we're supposed to be. I found Ray's glasses in my studio area. I made and ate a lovely salad of fresh spinach, plum tomatoes, artichoke hearts, smoked mozzarella, and the exquisite Balsamic vinaigrette we now carry, and I'm ready to relax, weed a bit, then relax some more.
